Our multi-disciplinary research team seek to advance existing battery technologies but also focus on next-gen and sustainable alternatives.
Our research areas include synthesis, characterisation and modelling of battery materials, testing of various batteries (such as lithium-ion, lithium metal, sodium-ion, sodium metal, multivalent ions, metal-air and solid-state batteries) and metal recovery from used batteries.
In our dedicated research space for pouch cell prototyping, our capabilities include:
Lab-scale slurry mixing and semi-automated electrode coating
Commercial grade electrode calendering, electrode cutting and sealing units
Glove boxes for optimal control over atmosphere during battery assembly and research
Working with industry partners toward kilograms of electrolytes and electrode active materials
Developing safer and more sustainable batteries.
